About this image: The 1890s era hotel on Star is typical of the genre - white clapboard, gables, and a front porch with many rockers. This is also a popular subject of visiting photographers. This particular photo was taken in the early morning and while the composition is not unique, there is a hint of the golden hue of sunrise, and tones of gray that make for a somber mood. And yet, the anticipation of a beautiful day on the island is also evident.
