David Rheubottom
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER: David Rheubottom's images are mainly landscapes of New England, the Southwest, and Great Britain (where he lived for many years). In his work he tries to reveal the sense of a place -- that special quality that lies beyond the readily apparent. He specializes in fine-art, large-format black & white photography using traditional darkroom techniques. His photographic training was done at the New England School of Photography where he studied fine-art photography with Nick Johnson, and subsequently in master classes in the West and Southwest with Bruce Barnbaum and Don Kirby. He finds inspiration in the work of the masters, classic and contemporary: Paul Strand, Edward Weston, Brett Weston, Michael Kenna, and Don Kirby -- and in the beauty of the Monadnock Region where he lives.
